Survey Results: August 20, 2026

Harvey’s Takes the No. 1 Spot – No surprise here, Harvey’s finished first with 27.79%, receiving 339 votes. It was a relatively close contest, however, with A&W finishing just a few percentage points behind.
Harvey’s has been serving Canadians since 1959 and is particularly known for its flame-grilled burgers and customizable toppings. Customers can choose their toppings as their burger is prepared, an approach that has long helped distinguish Harvey’s from many of its fast-food competitors.
A&W another Canadian Brand takes the second place – A&W came in second with 24.10%, or 294 votes. Only 45 votes separated A&W from Harvey’s, showing just how competitive the race for the top spot was. Together, Harvey’s and A&W captured 51.89% of all votes, meaning more than half of respondents selected one of these two Canadian brands as their favorite.
Burger King Takes Third Place – Burger King ranked third, receiving 14.43% with 176 votes, while Wendy’s, another international well-known burger giant followed in fourth place at 10.41% with 127 votes, Five Guys rounding out the top five, earning 6.64% and 81 votes.
One interesting result is the relatively low position of McDonald’s Burgers. Despite being one of the largest and most recognizable fast-food chains in Canada, it received 4.67% of the vote, or 57 votes, placing behind the “Other” category.
Canadian Burger Chains Lead the Poll
The most notable finding is that Canadian-founded burger chains occupy the top two positions. Harvey’s was founded in Richmond Hill, Ontario, while A&W’s Canadian business developed into a separate Canadian company after its split from the U.S. operation. Both brands have built a strong presence across the country.
The results suggest that Canadian burger fans aren’t necessarily choosing the world’s biggest fast-food names. Harvey’s and A&W together received more votes than Burger King, Wendy’s, Five Guys, McDonald’s and Dairy Queen combined.
The survey results show a clear preference at the top: Harvey’s and A&W are in a league of their own in this poll. Nearly 52% of respondents chose one of the two.
